Because every woman deserves to understand her body and thrive through every stage of life
The Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) launched Power in the Pause to reshape how Black women experience and talk about perimenopause and menopause—stages too often overlooked, misunderstood, or excluded from mainstream health conversations.
Power in the Pause unites expert voices, powerful programming, research and data and policy reform to reshape the conversation around menopause. It equips Black women with the knowledge, tools, and support to navigate this transition with confidence, reclaiming menopause as a moment of strength, wellness, and power.
"Black women are navigating menopause with too few resources and not enough trusted information. We are committed to changing that by ensuring women have access to clear, culturally relevant information and care so they can thrive during this stage of life."

BWHI conducted the largest ever cross-sectional online survey of U.S. based Black women ages 30+ to better understand their experiences, symptoms, needs and knowledge related to perimenopause and menopause.
